The European Union's second-highest court for the first time increased a cartel fine imposed by the European Commission, leaving Germany-based BASF AG with a slightly higher penalty.
The chemicals company was ordered to pay €35.02 million ($51.3 million), up marginally from an original fine of €34.97 million imposed by the commission, the EU's executive arm, in 2004 for its role in a cartel among producers of animal-feed vitamins.
